International purchase note
International buyers (outside of the United States of America), please note: Import duties, taxes, tariffs and charges aren’t included in the item price or postage cost. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility and vary from country to country and by item type. Any import duties, taxes, tariffs or charges will be incurred after you’ve completed your purchase here at Growling Hamster. We have no way to keep up with various countries’ charges on imports, so we can’t calculate for you in advance what those charges might be. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but please understand that these charges are beyond our control, and are calculated and incurred after the purchased item arrives in your country.
Returns
If our product fails to satisfy our explicit warranty (see below), or if the item has a manufacturing defect of any kind, you may return it to us for a full refund, or you may exchange it for the same or any identically-priced item. Should you choose to receive a refund, we will refund the purchase price, sales tax and initial shipping charges. We will also refund the cost to ship a defective item back to us, so long as the cost to ship the item back to us does not exceed the initial cost of shipping the item to you. If you are unhappy with our product for any other reason, simply return it to us (at your shipping expense) in an unused, like-new condition, and we will refund the purchase price and sales tax.
Warranty
Our products are warrantied only to the extent listed here and on the “Additional Information” tab on the individual product pages. For our t-shirts, you must follow the explicit “Garment Care Instructions” therein, in concert with the “T-shirt Product Info” indicated here. Failure to follow these instructions will void the warranty. You should expect our t-shirts to last without undue shrinkage, fading or cracking of the imprint, or other degradation for a reasonable number of washings, which we define as no more than twice per month for a period of one year. You should expect our posters to last for AT LEAST a period of one year without undue fading of the inks and without yellowing of the paper. You must follow the care instructions in our “Poster Product Info” here. Failure to do so voids any warranty.
T-shirt Product Info
OUR PRINTING PROCESS: Our shirts are printed using a heat transfer process. No, these are NOT “iron-on” appliques. These are produced–one shirt at a time–using special polymer carriers, imprinted with archival, pigment-based inks. We print using a four-color process, for brilliant, rich colors. The heat transfers we produce are applied to the garment using a professional heat press, which allows for a permanent bond to the fabric. Since we offer only black shirts, we use a white backing polymer so the colors really “pop” off the shirt. You may be familiar with traditional methods of printing on shirts, including screen printing. Frankly, our main reason for not screen printing these is volume. Screen printing is an expensive process, and we would need to sell hundreds of each design every week to justify the expense. Because of the white polymer undercoat we use, the imprinted areas on our shirts have a bit of a “stiff” feel when you first receive them. There is some amount of dimension to the ink and polymer, but this softens after a few washings. Screen printing on dark garments has the same issues as heat transfers, and requires an initial coat of opaque white ink to be applied and flash-dried before the additional colors can be applied, so we don’t feel as if you’re getting an inferior or “substitute” product in any way. We just want to make sure you understand that the imprints on our shirts have a bit of a “hard hand”, especially before washing. Speaking of washing, please see (and follow) our special washing instructions below.
OUR GARMENTS: Our tees are all top-quality, heavyweight, 100% cotton garments. Currently, we are using Fruit of the Loom SoftSpun 4.7 ounce shirts, but our garment brands may change from time to time. They will always be of comparable quality.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS: Despite what the collar tag on the t-shirt itself may say, our printing process requires somewhat different care. The garments themselves are 100% cotton, and MAY shrink up to a half size after the first couple of washes and drys. They typically shrink much less than that, but our warranty includes a half size variation. We warrant that the imprints on our shirts will last through a “reasonable” number of washings without pronounced fading or cracking if you follow our washing instructions. We assert that “reasonable” is 24 wash and cool dry procedures. If you wear this shirt every day, and wash it every day, then you’ll get a month or two out of it. More typical use should give you a couple of years of nice-looking wear. The inks will bleed and/or crack if washed in hot water, if dried on high heat, or if washed with dissimilarly colored fabrics. For best results, wash in cold water, with similar-colored fabrics. Always turn the garment inside out before washing, and leave it turned inside out when drying. Always dry these garments on your dryer’s lowest heat setting. Do not iron these shirts! As we mentioned, they’re imprinted using a heat transfer process, so you can imagine what damage you’ll do by applying high heat to the imprint area. We’ve washed these shirts several times in HOT water, with the dryer turned up high, and they survived just fine. We simply want you to get the most wear possible, and to have reasonable expectations about imprinted apparel in general.
Poster Product Info
The images on our posters are imprinted with pigment-based process color inks on heavy, near-archival ultra premium presentation matte finish paper. Paper currently used is 51-pound (offset weight), 10.3 mil white stock. Inks are four-color process. All materials should be considered “near-archival”. “Archival” is a term that gets used widely and mostly erroneously, and we hesitate to refer to our inks and stocks that way, although using standard practices, we could without being misleading. Our paper is NOT 100% rag, and it’s not 100% acid-free. Almost no papers are, actually. Similarly, our inks are not any more UV-safe than typical pigment-based inks, although pigment-based inks are generally very UV-resistant. Given that, our stock is of the best quality. Currently, we’re using Epson Ultra Premium Presentation Paper (Matte) with Cobra CMYK pigment inks, but our paper and ink types may change from time to time. They will always be of comparable quality. These posters are very UV-resistant, and the paper will not yellow or become brittle under normal conditions. You should avoid placing these posters in direct sunlight, in an excessively hot or cold environment, or in an excessively moist environment. Failure to do so will void the warranty.
Artwork and Copyright Info
Yeah, we’re kinda wise-ass and flippant about our marketing, but we really don’t skimp much on quality. These t-shirts and posters are produced by us, one at a time, so they’re essentially as hand-made as a digitally printed item can be. The artwork is all produced by us, using traditional and digital techniques, and is owned and copyrighted by us. The bottom line is that if you see these sold elsewhere, and they don’t have the “copyright Conceptsmart, Inc.” tag line on ’em, the artwork (or at least the idea) was probably stolen from us. We’re as close to starving artists as regular morons get, so you can feel all charitable and benevolent while you make your purchase.
All artwork is copyright Conceptsmart, Inc. and may not be duplicated for any purpose without prior authorization by us. Item is intended for personal, consumer use only. Note that our concert posters are NOT original concert posters. They are re-creations and/or re-imaginings of the posters originally used in promoting the show described therein. All photos used are, to the best of our knowledge, in the public domain. Our reproduction of certain posters is limited by the original concert promoter’s intent and usage, and any rights of publicity were granted to that promoter for use in advertising the event described therein, remain associated with the original event, and are not exercised in any other way by us.
