Product Description
Makers of one of the oddest little cars ever, the Isetta, Iso Automobiles was an Italian car and motorcycle maker that existed from 1939-1973. Originally manufacturing only small-displacement motorcycles, motor scooters and a few three-wheeled oddities, Iso eventually developed the iconic bubble-shaped minicar, the Isetta. Early production was limited to Iso’s Milan factory, but by the mid-1950’s, they had licensed other manufacturers like BMW to produce the Isetta. By the time production ended in 1962, several hundred thousand had been built in various countries. In the 1960’s, Iso began building high-performance cars. With chassis work by Bertone and small-block V-8 engines from Chevy and Ford, the Rivolta, Grifo, Fidia and other models attempted to swim in the waters populated by Jaguar and Ferrari. The cars were very well-engineeered, and are highly collectible today, but the company never seemed to find its niche before folding following the release of its last model, the Lele.
